Located in the picturesque village of Woodstock, Vermont, Mertens House, nestled against the woods of Mount Tom, offers a warm, light-filled atmosphere where residents feel at home. The small size with only fourteen private rooms insures a friendly setting where residents, friends and family gather in spacious living and dining areas. The staff offers professional, customized care for each resident, creating a special place for a comfortable life brightened by social and physical activities.
The foundation of life at Mertens House is personalized care. Staff learn what residents enjoy. Maybe it’s a special morning routine. Maybe it’s being read to or watching TV or listening to music. Maybe it’s playing cards, enjoying the sun on the porch or going for a stroll through the garden. Everyone is invited to participate in daily games, physical exercise and other activities designed to engage the mind and provide social interaction.
All nursing care is included in the daily rate at Mertens House. The family-centered philosophy of care makes sure that families are part of the decision making. This includes end of life challenges, with staff talking openly and honestly to family members while providing palliative care with respect and support for everyone involved.
Our pet visits are the best, especially when the mini donkeys come to Mertens House.
This Alzheimer’s Awareness BBQ was a favorite in the summer of 2023.
Every month we take a trip to a new location – our trip to China was a huge success!
